A dog’s kindness knows no limits. These caring creatures have showed the world so many times, they are capable to put their lives on the line, only to protect someone in desperate need of help. This time five helpless kittens were struggling to stay alive, but a heroic dog stepped up and saved them all!
A few days ago, a stranger was driving back home in Ontario, Canada, when spotted something that looked like an animal on the side of the road. It was dark and extremely cold and assuming the creature might be harmed, the driver pulled over to investigate.
When getting closer, there was a dog curled in the deep snow. But at a closer look, the stranger realized what’s actually happening. Five tiny kittens popped up from the gentle’s dog coat. The caring doggie was keeping them warm. How the dog and the kittens got there, in the middle of nowhere, remains a mystery, but the kind driver was determined to help them.
Both the caring dog and the kittens have been taken to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter. It turned out there, the dog was a stray dog and the kittens were likely abandoned. However, one thing was crystal clear for everyone. That selfless dog just had saved the kittens’ lives.
Even at the shelter, the dog had always stayed by the kittens side, just like their mom would have done. The way this dog showed its affection for these helpless kittens surprised everyone at the shelter.
“It’s truly heartwarming!” one of the volunteers explained for The Dodo. “It had been a very cold night so these kittens would have had a very hard time surviving…we see a lot of difficult situations on a daily basis and stories like this one make every heartache worth it.”
The kittens will remain a while at the shelter as they need some medical care. The shelter also hopes that someone will eventually come to claim them. As about the stray dog, he remained with the kittens he just saved.
