Earlier this week a caring trooper from the New York State Police saved the life of a bald eagle. The injured bird found itself on the side of a busy highway, and the authorities had to move fast to rescue it
A motorist alerted the police, after spotting the majestic bird on Route 17 in the town of Blooming Grove, Orange County. Within minutes, trooper Bryan Whalen made his appearance on the scene and rescued the poor eagle. The bald eagle was injured, as the NYSP wrote in a Facebook post, and it was immediately taken to a Rehab Facility in New Paltz.
“A motorist contacted SP Middletown to report an injured bald eagle on the side of ST-17 in the Town of Blooming Grove,” NYSP wrote on Facebook. “Trooper Whalen was able to utilize his Division issued jacket and a K9 Trooper’s bite sleeve to corral the eagle and safely put it into a kennel that was provided by the Warwick Valley Animal Rescue. The Eagle was then transferred to Officer Nicole Duchene from the Department of Environmental Conservation who transported the eagle to a Rehab Facility in New Paltz for further care!”
The eagle received proper medical care and now it is on his way to recovery. Once fully recovered, the iconic bird will be released back in the wild. Well done Trooper Whalen!
