Rescue goat suffers from anxiety – only calms down in her duck costume

Not only humans have to deal with certain emotional feelings, but animals as well. Especially those who have been through a lot. Life of a rescue animal is anything but easy, even after it got saved. One of these poor little souls is Polly – a rescue goat who was suffering from anxiety. But fortunately, little Polly’s struggles have all gone one day thanks to her adoptive mom.

Leanne Lauricella runs a small rescue goat group called Goats of Anarchy in New Jersey. Over the years she took care of numerous orphaned goats or with special need ones. However, when Polly was brought there, Leanne said she’d never seen an animal in such terrible condition. But she promised herself to help the cute tiny goat to recover, despite she had a lot of problems to deal with; anxiety and blindness among them.

“She’ll find a corner of a wall in the house, and she’ll just start sucking on the wall,” Leanne told The Dodo. “So all the corners in our house have these little suck marks from her mouth.”

One day, the woman came back home with duck costume for kids. She thought maybe some of their baby goats might like it. But little did she know, that cute fluffy costume would change Polly’s life for ever. Apparently, the costume helped Polly to instantly calm down.

“As soon as I put it on her, she just instantly got calm,” Leanna said. There’s something about that duck costume that calms her. She goes into a little trance. She just closes her eyes and she’s out. She just calms down and goes to sleep. It’s become a thing that she’s known for. ”

Leanna hopes she’d be able to introduce Polly to the other goats at the rescue center. She thinks socializing would help the poor little thing to overcome all the struggles she had to hardly deal with! Find out more about Polly in the video bellow:
