You have to admit, it’s not the best feeling in the world when someone wakes you up. Especially when there’s no reason at all to do that. But for this guy, to be woke up early in the morning by a strange noise turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. Tim Newton, a photographer who lives in Alaska, heard some noises coming from his porch, so he decided to investigate. And guess what…seven cute lynx cubs and their mom decided to pay him a little visit
Without a second though, Tim rushed to grab the camera and captured the unique sight. The beautiful creatures were far from being shine as they lined up right outside in front of where he was standing behind the screen door. They never looked uncomfortable in front of the camera. They were just acting like the porch was their playground.
“I crept over to the window and opened the curtains a crack, and could see it looked like a cat. I started to think nothing more of it. But then I noticed it had really big feet and little tiny hairs on its ears. So I knew then it was probably a lynx kitten – not a full grown cat,” Tim shared the lovely experience with Channel 2. “And lo and behold, one by one, all these baby lynx came to mama and shuffled out onto the deck, right in front of me, where I was standing behind the screen.”
“They were running back and forth, pouncing on each other,”he said. “I started snapping away. I thought “Wow! What incredible luck. This is just wonderful! They were so cute. It was cute-tastic!”
Lynx is known as a highly elusive wild cat species. Tim has only spotted a few of them in the wild with some occasions. Therefore, with such a unique opportunity to photograph them up-close from the comfort of his own home was a thrilling experience. A dream come true for any animal lover, especially a wildlife photographer.
“I’ve never seen so many lynx,” Tim explained. “To see all these lynx on my deck, I was gobsmacked. They started to play again. For the next 40 minutes, they all played on my deck. They were chasing each other, rolling and wrestling.”
“We’re always thrilled to encounter wildlife. It makes me feel thankful — thankful for where I live. I’m thankful to have seen these lynx up close.”
What an experience to behold!
