74-year-old woman jumps into lake and fights off alligator to save her dog

You may often heard people saying they are ready to do everything for the seek of their furry friend, but it doesn’t always seems as it sounds. Well, that doesn’t work for this senior lady, who put her life on the line – without hesitation – to save her Golden Retriever from gator attack. Though both, she and her dog got some serious wounds, they are now fine!

As usually, 74-year-old Suzan Marciano and her dog Nalu, went for a walk early in the morning, close to their homes in Boca Raton, Florida. As they got on the promenade of a lake in the Burt Aaronson Park, Suzan took off her dog’s leash to let her be more comfortable. The two were playing fetch, when Nalu dived straight into the calm lake. But all of a sudden, the woman just spotted something was moving in the water towards her dog.

The woman was in shock when realized a nearly 6 feet alligator just got her Nalu. But without a second thought in her mind, in the next moment, the senior woman was already in the lake, fighting off the gator that grabbed her dog. Although she somehow managed to free Nalu from the beast’s jaws, Suzan was now finding herself in very deep troubles.

“My heart dropped, I wasn’t thinking,” the woman told the media. “I did the only thing I could do. I came down on the alligator with all my weight. Providence must have been with me…It was all one big blur. I was in such shock. I didn’t feel any pain.”

Even wounded, the woman and her dog managed to get out of water and rushed the car. With the adrenaline still pumping into her veins, Suzan did not thought, not even for a second to go to the hospital. But she was eventually convinced by a friend. “All I could think was, ‘I want to get home.’ I was in a horrible state… I wasn’t thinking straight,” she said.

After a short visit to the medic, Suzan learned she has nothing to worry about. However, she then took Nalu the vet and the dog went straight in the surgery. But everything went well and she got back home soon.

Suzan and Nula miraculously escaped from an extremely dangerous situation, but the woman still has nightmares when thinking about what happened. “I didn’t even want to see the park,” Suzan said. “I hardly went anywhere for two weeks afterward. I was in such a traumatic state.”
