In Houston, a four-year-old American bulldog named Rubble was left behind in a way no animal should ever experience. When her owner moved to California, she was not taken along. There was no plan for her care and no attempt to rehome her.

Slowly, her body began to respond. Weight returned. Her skin improved. Her fur started to grow back. Most importantly, her eyes began to reflect something new.

Learning That Not All Humans Leave
Rubble was later placed in foster care with Alyssa Staloch, who gave her the patience and stability she needed to continue healing. In her foster home, Rubble showed her true nature.
She was calm, gentle, and deeply affectionate. She did not demand attention. Instead, she expressed gratitude quietly, resting her head against a leg or sitting close by.
“She’s gentle, calm, and incredibly loving,” Alyssa said. “She doesn’t jump or demand attention. She just lays her head on your leg like she’s saying thank you.”
