Dogs do so much to help us overcome difficult moments in our life with their never-ending optimism and their endless supply of joy. And every once in a while, we get a chance to return the favor and do something for them. That being said, you should get ready to meet Nora the dog and 11-month-old baby Archie. These two have been best friends since the day they first met, and their story will definitely put a smile on your face and remind you once more just how powerful the connection between a human and a dog can actually be.
But let’s start with the beginning. You see, Nora didn’t exactly have an easy start in life. In fact it was quite the opposite of that. Nora comes from an abusive home and was left with massive emotional scars as a result of it. Due to extensive abuse, Nora was afraid of almost anything and anyone. Every time someone tried to get near her, the dog would lash out because she was afraid.
“At any time of day you’re likely to find a pile of kids, cats and/or dogs lying about the house somewhere,” Elizabeth Spence, Archie’s mom told the Dodo.
That’s until she met baby Archie. From the second the two met, Nora accepted the baby, and from that point on, the two become almost inseparable. The baby’s relaxed attitude is what firstly attracted Nora towards the baby, and over time, their connection only grew stronger.
“Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy, good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora,” Spence said. “She came from an abusive background and is afraid of almost everything. Not Archie, though. She absolutely adores him!”

I came across this older video while cleaning up some video files today. I think it’s definitely one of my fave videos of Archie and two of his furry friends, Daisy and Nora. I can see the mutual love they have for eachother, can you? I’m happy to say it’s still going strong! (I only wish the maps were too!!) ❤️ #ArchietheAnimalWhisperer #NappingwithNora (and Daisy) #weeklyfluff
Most likely, the baby offers her a sense of security and safety that Nora needed to overcome her hard challenging past. What a lovely duo!

This precious baby boy starts preschool tomorrow and I am gutted, for more reasons than one. First of all, he’s been my constant companion for nearly four years now, what am I going to do without him? 😳 What will the animals do without him?? 😭 Secondly, he’s been experiencing some issues with anxiety lately that make him completely clam up in social situations. He’s great with animals, but people terrify him, more so little people his own age, which can manifest itself with him completely shutting down in their presence or getting frustrated and angry. I think a lot of this anxiety stems from his apraxia and his inability to verbally communicate as effectively as he’d like to. He’s come so far this past year in speech therapy, but he still has a long way to go. So, while I remember being super excited for Wellie and Loretta to start preschool, knowing they were ready for it, I am, frankly, terrified for Archie. It pains me to see how scared and overwhelmed he becomes in social settings and I don’t want him to suffer. I also don’t want him to be stressed or frustrated because people can’t understand him. We will go no matter though, because the exposure, socialization and learning opportunities that await him are too important to avoid. I will swallow my fears, so that in turn I can help him conquer his. Thankfully he’s going to a wonderful school full of wonderful teachers and supports and I can be with him every step of the way for as long as he needs me to be! In preparation for school we have been talking about and role playing every imaginable situation he may encounter. We’ve also been giving him some key phrases to use when he talks with other kids. Swipe right to see a little video of how he practices introducing himself to others. While you’re at it, send some happy vibes for us for tomorrow. We sure would appreciate it! ❤️ #thetruthbetoldthursday #parentingishard #iamsoproudofthiskid #archietheanimalwhisperergoestoschool #tbt
