Cani was found with his muzzle taped shut in a ditch by a bridge and was immediately scooped up and taken to Griffith Pet Hospital in Griffith, Indiana.
The black electric tape was removed, revealing raw skin underneath, indicating that it had been on for at least several days.
The veterinarian examined the puppy for any other injuries and provided him with some much-needed food. It was clear that the poor thing had been through a lot in the last couple of days, and perhaps even longer. Hospital staff watched with tears in their eyes as the puppy ate while wagging his little tail. Nobody knows who could have done such a cruel thing to the dog, and we may never find out.
The Griffith Pet Health Center shared: “We do our best to help every creature that comes our way, and it’s heartbreaking to know that someone in our community is capable of such cruelty to an innocent pup.”
Louie received treatment and made a full recovery. He would go on to find a loving forever home with Mary Conners Whitting, who, ten years ago to the date, had to say goodbye to their beloved family dog at the same health center. But now, she has a new furry friend!
Louie is enjoying his new life filled with love, cuddles, and treats! He finally knows what it’s like to be a dog and gets to live the life he’s always deserved.
He even had the chance to meet his rescuer and hero when Mary brought him back to the hospital to see Bob. Louie thanked Bob with lots of kisses for saving his life. Bob didn’t think the dog would remember him, but their emotional reunion proved otherwise.
