It is always heartwarming to see young people showing compassion to animals, and this girl’s treatment of a stray dog certainly restores hope in humanity. The kind act was captured on camera by a woman who happened to witness the scene!
On a rainy day, Mayane Rodrigues was looking out her apartment window in Brazil when she saw the most endearing scene. She initially saw a young girl across the street walking home from school, carrying an umbrella. But then the girl put it down, removed her backpack and took off her jacket. Rodrigues was curious as to why she did this, but soon discovered the reason.
“It all happened so quickly. It was very emotional,” the woman said. “I sent the video to a friend who, shared it to a neighborhood group, and then I found out who the angel was.”
The woman observed a small puppy on the side of the road, beside the girl’s feet, and realized the girl’s kind act was for the puppy. The girl had picked up the helpless puppy and was holding it in her arms as she walked home!
Mayane caught the beautiful moment on camera, and it soon went viral online!
The angel was later identified as Cibley Stiegelmair, a 12-year-old girl – who showed the world that you don’t have to be big to be a hero. Despite her young age, Cibley knows how to spread kindness in the world. As it turns out, the puppy she rescued was injured, so Cibley brought her home and took care of her.
“I was startled when she arrived with the puppy because she was very sweaty and wet from the rain,” Rejane Stiegelmair, the Cibley’s mother, told The Dodo. “I thought she had been hurt, but she told me she found the puppy injured. My daughter has a very good heart. She feels very sorry for stray dogs”
Cibley has always had a kind heart towards animals, and her actions made her parents even more proud of her. The puppy, named Pretinha, had only minor injuries and with some extra love, she was able to heal. It is unclear how Pretinha ended up on the side of the road, but one thing is certain, her future is much brighter than her past. Cibley’s family adopted her and now she lives happily with her rescuer who gave her a second chance.
